Chemical level of organization
The simplest level of structural organization, where atoms such as carbon and oxygen bond together to form molecules like water and proteins.

Cell
The basic unit of life; the smallest structure that can carry out all the processes of a living thing.
Unit 2 — Cells & Tissues (Histology)
Homeostasis
The body's continuous monitoring and adjusting of internal conditions — like temperature, water, and salts — to keep them in a stable range.
Unit 3 — Homeostasis & Feedback Mechanisms
Epidermis
The outermost layer of skin, made of tough, keratin-filled cells that constantly shed from the surface and are replaced from below. It forms the body's first barrier against microbes, chemicals, and water loss.
Unit 4 — Integumentary System
Axial skeleton
The central division of the skeleton: the skull, vertebral column, and rib cage. It supports the head and trunk and protects the brain, spinal cord, heart, and lungs.
Unit 5 — Skeletal System
Skeletal muscle
The muscle type attached to bones by tendons. Its cells are long, cylindrical, striated, multinucleated, and under voluntary control — it moves the body on command.
Unit 6 — Muscular System
Central nervous system (CNS)
The brain and spinal cord, which receive information, process it, and decide how the body should respond.
Unit 7 — Nervous System
Hypothalamus (endocrine role)
As an endocrine structure, the hypothalamus senses body conditions and signals the pituitary gland when to release its hormones, linking the nervous and endocrine systems.

What is a starter deck?

How does the scheduling work?

Rycal uses SM-2 spaced repetition: after each flashcard you rate it Still Learning or Know, and your ratings decide when that card comes back. Add your test date to the Test Planner and pacing compresses as the test approaches — nothing is ever scheduled past test day.
