What’s inside

Everything for the May exam, in one place

Four ways to study, all aligned to the same course framework.

Flashcards

A 280-card deck covering all 5 units, audited against the CED with core and supporting concepts marked so you study what's tested and skip what isn't. Your Still Learning / Know ratings schedule each card with SM-2 spaced repetition.

Vocabulary Check

A definition-first pass over the deck: see the definition, recall the term. Built for the recognition-to-recall ramp the exam rewards.

Practice questions

80 original multiple-choice questions written against the CED — never recycled exam content. Every distractor targets a real misconception, and explanations address the trap.

FRQ drills

Five free-response drills — multi-focus questions plus inference with hypothesis tests and confidence intervals, timed like the exam, with Rycal-written rubrics you score yourself against — plus links to officially released FRQs on AP Central.

Unit by unit

Covered unit by unit

Every unit of the AP Statistics framework, each with its own flashcard deck, vocabulary check, and practice questions.

A few of the actual cards

Real cards from the AP Statistics deck — term on the front, definition on the back.

p-value
Assuming the null hypothesis is true, the probability of obtaining a test statistic as extreme or more extreme — in the direction of the alternative hypothesis — than the observed test statistic. For Ha: > it is the probability at or above the observed statistic; for Ha: < the probability at or below it; for Ha: ≠ the sum of the tail probabilities at −|observed| and +|observed|. Small p-values provide convincing evidence for Ha; p-values that are not small provide no convincing evidence for Ha — nor evidence that H0 is true.
Unit 3 · Inference for Categorical Data: Proportions
Residual
The difference between the observed and predicted response for a given x: residual = observed y - predicted y-hat. A positive residual means the model underpredicts; a negative residual means it overpredicts.
Unit 5 · Regression Analysis
Mean
The mean is the sum of all the values divided by the number of values. For a sample, the mean is denoted by x-bar: x̄ = (1/n)Σx_i, where x_i is the ith data point and n is the number of data values in the sample.
Unit 1 · Exploring One-Variable Data and Collecting Data
Standard deviation
The standard deviation is a typical deviation of the data values from their mean. The sample standard deviation, denoted s, is calculated as the square root of Σ(x_i − x̄)²/(n − 1).
Unit 1 · Exploring One-Variable Data and Collecting Data
Confidence interval
An interval estimate for a population parameter, constructed as point estimate ± margin of error.
Unit 3 · Inference for Categorical Data: Proportions
Hypothesis test
A statistical inference procedure used to make a decision about the value of a population parameter.
Unit 3 · Inference for Categorical Data: Proportions
Correlation coefficient (r)
Summarizes the strength and direction of the linear association between two quantitative variables. It is unit-free and always between -1 and 1, inclusive.
Unit 5 · Regression Analysis
Sampling distribution
A sampling distribution of a statistic is the distribution of values of the statistic for all possible samples of a given size from a given population.
Unit 2 · Probability, Random Variables, and Probability Distributions
Questions

Before you ask

Is Rycal free?

Yes. Everything described on this page is free — no ads, no paywalls, no premium tier. You can study as a guest without an account; a free account saves your progress and syncs it across devices.

Is this official College Board material?

No. Rycal is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the College Board. Our questions and drills are original writing, aligned to the College Board course framework — we never rehost exam content. The FRQ section links out to officially released FRQs on AP Central.

How does the scheduling work?

Rycal uses SM-2 spaced repetition: after each flashcard you rate it Still Learning or Know, and your ratings decide when that card comes back. Add your exam date to the Test Planner and pacing compresses unit by unit as the test approaches — nothing is ever scheduled past test day.

Do I need an account to start?

No. Guests get the study tools. A free account adds sync across devices, the review queue, and the mastery map that shows which units are fragile and which are stable.

Which FRQ types are covered?

Five free-response drills — multi-focus questions plus inference with hypothesis tests and confidence intervals, each with a Rycal-written rubric you score yourself against, plus links to officially released FRQs on AP Central. Rycal never grades your writing.
