Columbian Exchange
The transfer of crops, animals, mineral wealth, and diseases between Europe and the Americas after 1492. The CED says it brought new crops to Europe, stimulating population growth, and new sources of mineral wealth that facilitated Europe's shift from feudalism to capitalism.
Unit 1
House of Burgesses
Virginia's elected colonial assembly; the CED's example source is a 1734 speech by Sir John Randolph on his election as its speaker, on respectful debate and accepting majority decisions.
Unit 2
Federalist Papers
The essays articulating Federalist principles during the debate over ratifying the Constitution, written primarily by Alexander Hamilton and James Madison.
Unit 3
Missouri Compromise
A congressional attempt at political compromise that only temporarily stemmed growing tensions between opponents and defenders of slavery.
Unit 4
Seneca Falls Convention
The convention at which the women's rights movement expressed its ideals of greater equality and opportunities for women.

Transcontinental railroads
Railroad lines whose construction — along with mineral discoveries and government policies — promoted economic growth in the West and created new communities and centers of commercial activity.

New Deal
Franklin Roosevelt's program that attempted to end the Great Depression by using government power to provide relief to the poor, stimulate recovery, and reform the American economy.
Unit 7
Brown v. Board of Education (1954)
The Supreme Court decision the CED cites as a federal measure to promote greater racial equality; the result of a legal fight against segregation in which Thurgood Marshall's arguments were central.
Unit 8
Cuban Missile Crisis
A 1962 episode of indirect Cold War military confrontation in which President Kennedy announced to the American people the construction of Soviet missile systems in Cuba.

Ronald Reagan
U.S. president whose 1980 election victory the CED credits with enabling conservatives to enact major tax cuts, continue industry deregulation, and later assert U.S. opposition to communism in the Cold War.

How does the scheduling work?

Rycal uses SM-2 spaced repetition: after each flashcard you rate it Still Learning or Know, and your ratings decide when that card comes back. Add your exam date to the Test Planner and pacing compresses unit by unit as the test approaches — nothing is ever scheduled past test day.

Do I need an account to start?

No. Guests get the study tools. A free account adds sync across devices, the review queue, and the mastery map that shows which units are fragile and which are stable.

Which FRQ types are covered?
